A star bounded by a circle with five points is known as pentagram, each of the five points has its own meaning, out of the five points one faces in upward direction and means the spirit and the rest four symbolizes the four elements earth, water, fire and air and in total all these things comprises the life.

The word pentagram was derived from a Greek word which means five lines and has significance which relates to theories and stories of the past and the present. In the past it related to the five wounds of Jesus, it also relates to the Muslim religion as the five times to pray and the five pillars. In modern and present religions like Wicca it contributes to the Wiccan kiss which is a fivefold kiss. The pentagram also symbolizes the human being with the head of the person on the top point and the four limbs in each four points. Then you have the inverted pentagram which symbolizes the evil goat with the two points facing upwards as the horns and the ears on the right and the left with the beard pointing down.

It is believed that pentagram pendants are worn to protect one from evils and Wicca has a wide use of the pentagram. In Christianity pentagram had and has its own meaning as the five senses or the five wounds and till the present time is used in churches since the description of pentagram is also there in the holy bible (Revelation chapter 12). In our present world some countries uses the symbol of pentagram in their flag and pentagram is also described as the Seal of Solomon.

Pentagram also has trigonometric values and geometric values like the golden proportion or the golden ratio which says φ = (1 + √5) / 2 ≈ 1.618
